The objective of the CIRCLE project is to develop a draining cast-in-place concrete pavement based on shellfish co-products, with low environmental impact and significant drainage properties. In addition, the addition of shellfish co-products by substituting natural aggregates reduces and preserves non-renewable natural constituents.

Today, in the face of climate change, combined with the growing increase in soil urbanization, Europe is regularly faced with flooding episodes with major human, environmental and financial consequences. Drainage of road structures is therefore an obvious solution to combat this devastating phenomenon.

The CIRCLE project has been selected within the framework of the European Cross-border Cooperation Programme INTERREG VA France (Channel) England co-financed by the ERDF and brings together 7 French and British partners.

UK pilot sites

Still under discussion, our UK sites could be parking areas in parks.

Visit of the CA2BM pilot site

  On August 31, ESITC Caen, CA2BM and Eqiom – A CRH company met in Montreuil to visit portions of Eurovéloroute 4. These portions, with a total length of 4km, will be built with the pavement mix developed for the project from spring 2022.
